From Goats to Social Media

Low Angle Shot of Goat

You heard from him a few weeks ago, when he was a guest contributor for us writing “Social Media – Can’t See the Forest for the Tweets?” Now we are lucky to have James Ball join us as a regular contributor.  Here is some more information on how he got to where he is today, as a social media consultant and blogger.

In a very roundabout way, mine is a story of a man that aspires to raise goats in the mountains of North Georgia. I made the physical move to Ellijay, Georgia and bought a piece of land over a decade ago, though I am in fact, a rare Atlanta native. If my calculations are right, and my luck holds out, I’ll get my goats and you’ll begin to hear less and less from me…sometime around the year 2025.

I am one of three owners of HelloNorthGeorgia.com, “North Georgia’s Visual Directory”. Our company was started a little over a year ago in an effort to bring more online attention to the area and the businesses here. I originally felt that my background in graphic design would be the value that I brought to the table, but as it turns out, my advertising and marketing experience has proven to be my greatest asset here.

My individual roles and responsibilities have me dealing with all types of businesses and business owners each day. Among other things, I handle our own social media presence and strategy. Our @HelloNorthGA Twitter feed is a good example of this. Truly, much of my social media experience and understanding comes from the trial by fire method of learning. I now consult with my partners, our clients, and others, who desire to know more about social media and how it might apply to their own individual needs. Blogging is simply another tool for me. With this, I hope to help those that fall outside the boundaries of my own local community.

I am not a social media guru, though social media in general, I call a dear friend. I was not involved when the Internet began, but I have been deeply involved since we first met. My only true expertise is that which is born from my own mistakes and experiences. This experience, these mistakes, and my own personal take on things… I present for you here at AtlantaSmall.biz.
